Others we hope to battle quietly and with resolute dignity, never wanting to throw a shadow over the magic bubble we invite you to enter when you open our front door, allowing you to escape your troubles and stresses of the day. We wake up each and every morning with the desire to see how we can be better, especially during challenging times.
So, this time around I want to share our current worry, especially since at the end, if not successful, it would alter our Universe and take away our joy of bringing you happiness and care.
We have new owners of our building, the Rosenblum Family, Soho Village Realty, under the LLC 4-6 White, that have decided that the remaining years of a lease that we purchased from the previous long time tenant with the support of so many who only wanted to allow us to continue our delicious and genuine form of hospitality, should not be ours at all. Because they want a higher paying tenant. But we already paid upfront for the ease of less monthly.
Knowing we are small and independent they are attempting to force us to defend things that are so without merit hoping to drain us financially and emotionally. Speaking of this is not just to let all of our wonderful guests be aware and to come out and support us with your company at dinner, but it is for all of the small businesses being bullied by uncaring and ruthless building owners looking to rub their silver coins together.
I am warmed by the knowledge that Chip and I have always put others before ourselves. We do our style of charm and spirit of the European countryside in the restaurant scene because to see you overwhelmed and lifted up, in turn fills us up. We thank you for that daily dose. Not to mention that enjoying fine food and sharing a glass of wine with you doesn’t hurt!
Today is July 3rd, 2026. I may be naive but I deeply feel that we can hang on and get them to leave us in peace. If you are with us do please join us. In the truest sense of the words. Make your reservations, come to dinner. Your spirit will only strengthen our upward battle. We are not seeking donations. We truly just need our dining room to remain vibrant so that as they threaten we can meet them head on.
Our faith is in our community and those around us who want us to remain as part of their circle.
Huff and Puff they will do, but we will hold our line.
For you, our employees, our faithful investors and finally, for Chip and myself to continue to be able to show up and be in love with our craft.
