February 2025

I love that this year we saw a little real winter in New York City. The snow falling outside that picture window facing West Broadway could not be more romantic! We enjoyed a lovely Valentine’s Day long weekend taking care of our guests and because we seat only what is precious, we had guests being sweetheart delicious from Wednesday through Saturday!

We now have added to our local and amazing repertoire of sustainable menu offerings with the discovery of North Wind Farms, Tivoli NY. Chip is doing Noisettes of their Pork Loin, the difference in flavor using a locally sourced, well cared for product is fulfilling for our souls and our palates. Rounding out the dish is Spaetzle, braised Red Cabbage, Bacon wrapped Prunes! Armagnac in the sauce…hello!
Nerello Mascalese for the vino.

Sweet tender Bay Scallops with Sorrento Lemon Beurre Blanc, teeny croutons, sometimes Caviar. Brocard Pierre Champagne, delicate, soft bubbles, was incredible.

Sweetbreads got another nod to his Southern roots. Crispy seared, seared Sweet Potato, Collard Greens and a sauce that leans into Red Eye Gravy. Viognier Roussanne blend was perfect. Also Gamay from Ardeche. Grainy and earthy.

Savarin, soaked in Rhum and Simple Syrup, spiked Sabayon, roasted Pineapple. Jurancon Molleaux.

Hungry??

We continue to be overwhelmed by how embraced we feel in our new “hood.” Though when thinking back it does seem we always had the generosity and kindness of our guests. When they express how happy they are with their experience it fills us up, spirits and bodies. Grateful for all of you.

Our team that surrounds us is also a gift worth mentioning. Bringing their own voices to the conversation while still focusing on our Philosophy of what we consider to be hospitality, personal, genuine, kind. But I still encourage those cellphones to stay tucked away, just sayin’!

Had a wonderful evening at Claud Restaurant in the East Village. We rarely get out and so enjoyed watching their thoughtful work roll out. Food was just what we carved and service was warm and precise. Thanks Chase! We realized the next morning that part of the vibe we felt is because years ago, when Chip and I first romanced, we used to haunt a place on Sundays, lingering all day, drinking huge bowls of lattes, eating perfectly prepared brunch offerings from the chef Margot at this very location. It was called Danal. A cherished memory.

We will look forward to your company. Shake winter off and venture down to see us. You know we are there! Swing in, say hello, raise a glass with me.

Until next month. Remember always to take good care of yourselves and those around you. Together we can spread the love far and wide.
