June 2025

Riverside Spring

The month of June! Truly the time when all of our Summer brainwaves start kickin’ in.
Schools letting out and parents carting carloads of kids and belongings up to Camp.
Upper East Siders heading out or up to Summer houses.
Baseball in full swing.

Arts Festivals and open air Concerts revving up.
Outdoor dining a focal point for those city bound.
Stacks of books for our Summer reading at our bedsides.

Sing for Hope, a most amazing Community Arts Organization allowed us to be the room of celebration for their generous donors. This is the magical group that places pianos all over the boroughs for anyone passing to sit and tinkle the ivories! Truly a NYC joy.

Then we had the pleasure of our dear, dear guests, Gottesman, having a rehearsal dinner with us on a perfect Friday evening. Celebrating the special moments with people who have shown such care and support over the years is truly an honor.

My thoughts always return to the Outer Banks this time of year. We miss the ocean and the herons in the Sound. But not so much the Hurricane Season.
Chip’s surfboard still hangs in storage…patiently waiting for him to head out east to Montauk.

Did you catch the Tony Awards? Such amazing talents. And just right there in the center of the city, lucky are we and all that journey here to catch a show.

Chip surprised me for my Birthday with my most favorite pastry. Pithivier with orange marmalade. I shared, of course, but made sure to save a piece for my next day cup of coffee!

Strawberries arrived and super sweet. Dressing up our Pavlova with juicy flair…Muscat Beaumes de Venise or Moscato di Asti, please
And Celtuce?!? Crazy and delicious vegetable that when cooked has a jewel tone green color and tastes like sesame seeds and toasted nuts, wild.
We had that on the Lobster dish, butter poached, diced potato with bacon, mushroom, almond, Sauce Americaine. Vintage Albarino like Do Ferreiro 2016 will make all of your worries melt away when paired with this dish.

Dock to Dish in Montauk still slaying us with their fish.
Line caught Golden Tile Fish, Bangs Island Mussels.
Seared crisp, amazing. Sincronia Blanca Malaga.

Venison from Millbrook, baby beets, socca with beet greens and raisin, panisses, cherry mostarda.
Serol Cotes Roannais, Gamay, such a delicate glass, but loves loves the venison.

Chip produced an old school Devils Food Cake, served classic, with Vanilla Glace, guests swooned.

And we are doing an incredible Tartare of Bass, creme fraiche, cucumber Vierge. I am posting the recipe for you. All about the freshness and textures.

Chocolate Tart
